🎹 Song No. 1: The “B” Note Song 🎶
The starting point of our musical journey is the note B. It is an essential note because it lets you focus on your hand position and the keyboard right away.
1. Where is it on the Staff? 🎼
The note B sits exactly on the 3rd line (the center line). When you see a notehead on that line, you know you need to play a B!
2. How to Play it on the Melodica? 🔍

To play B correctly on the keyboard:
- Find the note: Look for the group of three black keys. B is the white key located directly to the right of the third black key. 🎹
- Fingering: Gently place your fingertip on the key, keeping your hand curved in a “dome” shape (as if you were holding an invisible ball).
3. Listen and Check 👂
After placing your finger, blow gently into the mouthpiece or extension hose.
- The sound: It should be clean, steady, and pleasant. 🌬️✨
- Troubleshooting: If the sound stops, make sure you are pressing the key all the way down without pushing too hard. Remember to coordinate your breath with the key press!
🔁 THE REPEAT SIGN: Let’s Do It Again! 🎶
This magic symbol tells you to go back and repeat the music enclosed between its dots.
- 📍 Between the dots: Only repeat the section enclosed between the start and end symbols. |: … :| 👈👉
- 🏁 From the beginning: If you only see the end dots :||, start playing again right from the very beginning! 🚀
Keep your eyes on the sheet music and get ready for an encore!

🎵 Song No. 2: Here Comes “C”! 🎶
Now that you are confident with B, it’s time to discover a new sound: high C.
1. Where is it on the Staff? 🎼
Unlike B, which sits on a line, C is located in the 3rd space of the staff (counting from the bottom). It’s a note that “lives” comfortably between the third and fourth lines!
2. How to Play it on the Melodica? 🔍

Finding high C on the keyboard is very simple if you follow these steps:
- Find the note: C is located directly to the right of the note B (the one you learned in Song 1). It is the white key that starts the next group of black keys. 🎹
- Check: Make sure your finger is relaxed and ready to press the key precisely. Compare your hand position with the fingering diagram in the manual.
3. The Rhythm: The Whole Note (4 Beats) ⏳
In this song, we will use the Whole Note 𝅝 (the hollow note without a stem):
- Play for 4 beats: When you see this note, press the key, blow gently, and count mentally: “1 – 2 – 3 – 4”. 🌬️⏳
- Silence for 4 beats: When you see a whole rest (the little rectangle hanging under the fourth line), stay silent, lift your finger, and count: “1 – 2 – 3 – 4”. 🔇⏳
💡 SubitoMusica Tip:
Try moving from B (Song 1) to C (Song 2), alternating your fingers as if they were walking on the keyboard. Listen closely to how the sound of C is slightly higher in pitch than B!

🎵 Song No. 3: The Dialogue Between B and C 🎶
In this activity, you will practice everything you learned in the first two songs. It’s time to make your melodica “talk” by alternating between the notes B and C.
1. Alternating Notes 🔄
The song will require you to transition smoothly from one note to the other. Remember the “walking” rule on the keyboard with your right hand:
- Take note: As one finger presses down, the other lifts slightly. Keep your hand relaxed and in a “dome” shape over the keys. 👋✨
2. Rhythm and Breathing 🌬️
The Whole Note 𝅝 (the hollow note) remains the star here:
- Each note and each rest lasts for 4 beats. ⏳
- Use the rest: When you see the rectangle (a 4-beat rest), use it to relax your hand, prepare your finger for the next note, and take a calm, deep breath. 💨🌱
3. The Goal: Smoothness ✨
Don’t rush! The goal is not speed, but achieving a clean, seamless transition between the two notes.
- Listen to the sound: It should be consistent. Try to avoid awkward gaps or accidental pauses when moving from B to C.
💡 SubitoMusica Advice:
Before playing with the backing track, try Step 2 of our method: say the notes out loud following the tempo (“B – 2 – 3 – 4 | rest – 2 – 3 – 4 | C – 2 – 3 – 4…”). If you can say it to the rhythm, you will play it perfectly!

🎵 Song No. 4: Halving the Rhythm! 🎶⚡
In this activity, we will solidify B and C, but with a big surprise that will change how you read sheet music. Get ready to speed up your finger taps! 🎹⚡
1. The New Note Value: The Half Note 𝅗𝅥 ⏱️
Until now, we used the Whole Note (4 beats). Now, the Half Note enters the game:
- Half Note: Lasts for 2 beats. The sound is shorter, so you must be quicker with your finger and breath. 🌬️⏱️
- Half Rest: Lasts for 2 beats of silence. 🤫⏳
2. Watch the Symbols! (Whole Rest vs. Half Rest) 🧐🎩
Don’t mix them up! They look very similar, but sit in different positions on the staff:
- Whole Rest (4 beats): A small rectangle hanging below the 4th line (looks like an upside-down hat). 🎩🙃
- Half Rest (2 beats): A small rectangle sitting on top of the 3rd line (looks like a right-side-up hat). 🎩🙂
3. Heads Up for Song No. 4: No Repeat Sign! 🚫🔁
Unlike previous songs, you won’t find the two dots of the repeat sign (:|) here.
- You must play the sheet music from start to finish just once. 🏁
- Stay fully focused: once the last note and rest are done, the song is finished! 🏆🎉
💡 SubitoMusica Tip:
In Step 2 of our method, when you name the Half Notes, count like this: “B – two, C – two”. This will keep you from rushing and give every note (and finger) its exact 2-beat space. 🖐️⏱️

🎹 Song No. 5: Become a Half Note Wizard! 🧙🏼♂️✨🎶
Welcome to the fifth milestone of the OkMusic method! 🌟
Before exploring new areas on the keyboard 🎹, it is essential to pause and become true champions with the notes we already know. Song No. 5 is your “musical gym” 🏋️♂️ to boost your visual memory and playing precision.
💡 Lesson Elements: Mastering the Basics
In this song, we won’t add new notes. Instead, we will train you to play with confidence and ease:
- Fingering and Posture 🖐️: Even during review, technique is key! Keep your hand curved in a “dome” shape over the keys. Keep your fingers curved and light, as if caressing the instrument ☁️. Ensure every finger is ready to snap to the correct note without stiffening your wrist.
- Active Review 🧠🎶: We will test your speed in recognizing the notes studied so far. Are you sure you can switch from one key to another without hesitation? 🏃💨 Remember: try to trust your sense of position on the keyboard without looking at your fingers too much!
- Breath Control and Articulation 🌬️🎵: The melodica is a wind instrument, so a clean sound depends entirely on you! Every note needs steady air support 💨. Use a tonguing stroke 👅 (pronounce a soft “too”) as you press the key: this gives a clean start to each sound and keeps notes from sounding muddy or weak.
