Ok Rhythm level 1 – free activities
In order to perform the activities correctly, it is necessary, as far as possible, to maintain concentration at all times.
We recommend proceeding as follows
1 – initially read (with voice only) the notes (TA, TI TTI, TI RI TI RI) and the rests (SSS or the indicated numbers);
2 – then reproduce the notes using the clapping of the hands or any object (pens, pencils, musical instruments) and simultaneously name with the voice both the notes and the rests as done previously;
3 – having become aware of the activity to be performed, use the videos at the various speeds proposed (60, 70, 85, 100) playing the notes and continuing, with the voice, to pronounce notes, pauses and numbers
4 – finally, use the videos again starting from the slowest speed, playing the notes without using the voice this time.
Summing up:
- reading with voice
2. reading with voice + clapping or use of objects or musical instruments
3. reading with voice + clapping hands or objects/instruments + video various speeds (70, 85, 100)
4. clapping hands or objects/instruments + video various speeds – (no reading with voice)
““When using the videos, you will have to wait and count empty clicks initially, which are useful to perceive the speed of execution. Then you will have to repeat each refrain 8 times. In exercises with the tempo of
, you will need to count 6 clicks in preparation for the activity to be performed. In the exercises with the tempo of
, on the other hand, the clicks will be 8.
Fundamental! When you call the numbers, you have to divide them into two parts: o-ne, tw-o, thre-e and so on.
WE PRESENT THE MUSICAL FIGURES THAT WILL BE USED IN OUR RHYTHM GAMES!
The 1-movement note, quarter note, we will call TA.![]() | The rest (silence) of 1 movement, we will call SSS.![]() |
This musical figure is called ‘eighth note’. Two eighth notes we will call TI + TTI![]() | These musical figures are called “sixteenth notes”. In our games we will call them TI RI TI RI.![]() |
In case you do not have a Lim or Monitor in your classroom, we provide below paper images of the notes and rests used in the rhythmic games.
In addition to the exercises, they could be useful for performing new rhythmic combinations of your own invention.
You will need to print them out four times, perhaps on different coloured sheets and possibly laminate them.
