FacebooktwitterFacebooktwitter

In this section of the site, activities are proposed to familiarise the user with singing in 2 voices (polyphony) and, at the same time, to reinforce knowledge of notes with reference to their position on the staff.

Like any singing activity, it is advisable, first of all, to make use of both correct posture and adequate breathing. To this end, we always suggest simple and fun warm-up exercises, which you can find by clicking here.

To perform the 2-voice singing activities correctly, you will need to divide the class into 2 groups. The BLACK notes will be sung by everyone, the BLUE ones (indicated in the text SubitoCanto with the number 1 by the 1st group and the RED ones (indicated in the text SubitoCanto with the number 2 by the 2nd group. The notes of the mini-rhythm should simply be listened to as they have the function of getting the correct intonation. From the second stave you will start singing.

Remember that the notes represented by the SemiBreve figure should be sung for 4 movements while the notes of the Minima figure only 2 movements. The following figure (called SemiMinima pause) indicates silence for 1 movement.

To carry out the following polyphony activities correctly, you will need to sing the names of the notes while paying attention to their intonation (correct pitch) and duration. Keep your concentration!

Now it’s time to sing. let’s have fun with polyphony in 2 voices!
